The Oxford University knows how to take Big Data forward and recently started with a new initiative, which is funded by the Li Ka Shing Foundation. The Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Information and Discovery connects Big Data and latest technologies to make new discoveries. The centre brings together two different themes; research in Big Data and the Target Discovery Institute, which is a combination of research in pharmaceutical industry and academic research. Oxford University is developing an ecosystem that should make them the leading academic centre in the world for drug discovery, leading to better understanding and analysing of genomic data and, combined with other large data sets, will create better ways of doing healthcare and lead to better medicines.
