“Bulls make money, bears make money, but pigs just get slaughtered!”

Well, that’s how the Stock Market works. It is complex-giving you a feel of gamble when on the other hand it involves lot of calculations and speculation and the veil of the mystery of the theory behind it gets lifted once you invest.

The workshop that was organised by MITS FASC of ‘Fundamental & Technical Analysis of Stocks’ on September 27, 2013 was an attempt to make the students aware about how the Stock Market works which will be beneficial for those who wants to seek a career in this field.

And to have over-all knowledge about Stock Market, it’s essential to have a detailed overview of its trading mechanisms. How the Trading takes place through an open electronic limit order book, in which order matching is done by the trading computer or how there are no market makers and the entire process is order-driven or how to invest safely and much more.

With this workshop, the students got a fair share of how to apply the Fundamental and Technical Analysis tools to analysis to examine the stocks with live market data software.

The workshop started with Prof.(Dr.) Sunil Jakhoria, Dean of FASC lighting the lamp in front of Goddess Maa Saraswati. His speech threw a light on how this workshop is essential given today’s scenario. Mr. Vishal Sharma, the resource person from Sharekhan discussed the significance of fundamental & technical analysis tools. The workshop saw a hand on practical session too.

After a much needed exposure about a complex field-The Stock Market, the workshop ended with the distribution of certificates and a vote of thanks by Ms. Kajal Kaswan, secretary of Academic society of FASC. Prof. Jelsy Joseph, Head of department of Commerce and Dr. Krishna Murari, convener of the workshop were present during the workshop.

The participation of the students and the knowledge that was imparted made this workshop a success making MITS yet again an institution which goes beyond academics to make the students competent in every field!
